About the job

We are looking for experienced investigators to work with and lead assignments within the national development of vehicle technical regulations for road vehicles, which involves updating or developing new regulations and sometimes assisting the Government in various matters. The section primarily works with national regulatory development but also with international regulation, investigations, and analyses within the vehicle area. The work can vary between general investigative assignments and deeper investigations such as government assignments. Your main area will be the development of vehicle technical regulations. The work also involves responding to consultations and opinions both with an internal and external focus. In this role, it is important to have a good dialogue with other authorities, the vehicle industry, and other stakeholders who depend on or are affected by the regulations we develop.

In addition to deepening your knowledge of certain regulations, we see that you need to be able to lead investigations and assignments, which means looking at the bigger picture, seeing the whole, and thinking long-term. You will

  • conduct reviews of regulations within the vehicle technical area
  • lead and drive investigations when developing regulations or other assignments
  • collaborate internally with colleagues from different departments, units, and sections
  • cooperate with external actors such as other authorities, industry, and trade organizations
  • respond to consultations from the Government and other authorities
  • answer questions and have dialogue with the government office on various issues
  • assist with your knowledge and experience to other operations
  • handle inquiries from the media, the public, and other stakeholders

You must have

  • relevant academic degree or other equivalent knowledge/experience that we assess as equivalent
  • at least five years of experience in qualified investigative work
  • at least five years of experience in leading projects or other assignments
  • very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written

It is meritorious if you also have

  • experience in regulatory development at the national level
  • experience in regulatory development at the international level (EU and UN/UNECE)
  • Experience/knowledge of regulation within the vehicle area
  • current experience of similar tasks in a government authority

The employment is permanent with placement at one of the authority's locations in Borlänge, Stockholm, or Gothenburg. Appointment according to agreement. We normally apply a probationary period. As an employee with us, there is an opportunity to work remotely up to three days a week. It is the needs of the operation and the nature of the tasks that determine whether and to what extent this is possible.

About the Swedish Transport Agency

Number of employees: Approximately 2000.

Areas of operation: The Swedish Transport Agency works to achieve good accessibility, high quality, safe and environmentally friendly transport within rail, aviation, shipping, and road. We develop regulations, grant permits, and monitor compliance. With the help of our registers, we work with fees, permits, and ownership changes.

Locations: We have employees in 12 locations across the country. The majority of operations are located in Borlänge, Norrköping, and Örebro.

The head office is located in Norrköping.

About the Road and Railway Department

The Road and Railway Department consists of five units with associated sections. We are approximately 390 employees and are located in ten locations, with the majority of operations based in Borlänge, Gothenburg, and Kista.

We formulate regulations, assess and grant permits, exercise supervision, and compile statistics on accidents and incidents in the road and railway area. We work for an efficient market with healthy competition.
